Exeter Pride successfully hosted its second annual Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans Pride earlier this year, attracting well over 600 people to various events throughout the day.

The Pride team, previously part of the Intercom Trust (www.intercomtrust.org.uk) has now struck out on its own and has formed a Pride Committee that runs the show!

The Pride was recently awarded a community grant from Exeter City Council at an 'Exeter Decides' event and it will be following up on the success with lots of fundraising and social event over the coming months. 

Now that plans for the 2011 Pride event are underway the Committee are looking for some fresh faces with fresh ideas to join them in various volunteering, including fundraisers, stewards and general committee members (millionaire philanthropists are also welcome)

The Committee is open to anyone over 16 who is interested and thinks they might have a few spare hours over the next few months to be part of this exciting event.

Meetings are a fine rich blend of business and fun and while the Committee work very hard to achieve the finished event there is a strong social side to being on the committee and it’s a great way to meet new friends! Vicky, one of the Trustees on the committee recommends joining the team to anyone, saying ‘being part of Exeter Pride has been great fun so far, I have met some splendid new people and actually learnt lots of new stuff, like how to write a press release!’

The open evening is being held at the North Bridge Inn, just up from the Iron Bridge on Monday 9th August 7pm.
